LIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE ON THE DOOR Celebrate the New Year with us as our iconic Wines and Good Times New Year's Day Party returns to 2kw. Who better to headline the event than Melbourne’s very own House music maestro, producer and DJ John Course Having been part of the house music scene since its emergence in Australia, John first came to prominence by winning the Victorian leg of the DMC turntablist competition, A feat he repeated two years in a row! Moving from turntablist roots, he embraced house music from the start and was listed in DJ Mag’s first ever Top 100 DJ’s list, going on to start a successful label, produce original music, have a nation-wide dance music radio show & more recently, hosting his own webcast for over sixty Saturday nights, during the Covid-19 isolation period. One of the founders of Vicious Recordings (Est. 1992), John is the GM of the label collective that first signed artists such as Ground Level, Madison Avenue, Rogue Traders, Peking Duk, Dirty South, Sgt Slick, a bunch of Avicii’s first ever recordings & many more tracks from DJ’s & producers from all over the world. Vicious continues to release a stack of music, both on it’s original Vicious label as well as Vicious Bitch, Vicious Black & 2022 additions Extrovert Music & EXCEED. Since 2017, Vicious also added Australian labels U-Genius Music & Valiant Records to the collective, with a partnership that helps these newer labels benefit from the company’s extensive experience. On a DJ front, there are over one million compilations sold in Australia that include a John Course DJ mix, from Ministry of Sound, One Love and through to his own Vicious releases. John co-hosted Novanation for over 7 years on the Nova Network every Saturday night across Australia and in March 2020, at the start of Covid impacting life in Australia, John started his webcast, Club Classics and Future Anthems. The weekly broadcasts from his home proved to be one of the most popular DJ shows during the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020 and continued through 2021’s multiple lockdown periods. Over 60 shows, half a million views and over a quarter of a million chat messages only reinforce the impact that Facebook & Twitch broadcast had during the lockdowns. Between all of this, John produces music for several projects. He was part of Blackout, who’s “Gottta Have Hope”, was a huge club record globally in the late 90’s. John is also one half of Electro Funk Lovers & as well as solo producing under his alias J.A.C. or simply as John Course. It was within his solo project where he first remixed for Defected Records, taking on a remix of King Unique’s now classic “Love Is What You Need” with Andy Van way back in 2000. His most recent remixes have been Sgt Slick’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” and Jolyon Petch’s “Million Pieces”. John’s latest productions include two singles with Sgt Slick “Love Is” and “Love Vision”, plus his May 2023 release “You’re Makin Me High”, a house music cover of the classic R&B jam, which charted in Traxsource’s main chart and was in the top 20 of their House chart. John holds bi-weekly residencies at Melbourne’s club Electric, a monthly residency at Poof Doof, and is a resident of the disco orientated Sunday session known as Sky Disco. John also continues to do guest spots all over the country. His now legendary Good Friday 8 Hour Session and numerous MOS Classical appearances are testament to his ongoing DJ reputation. In the age of the bedroom and promoter DJ, John’s technical skills are only surpassed by his experience in programming the right music for the crowd in front of him and his deep knowledge of dance music’s back catalogue. John’s love of dance music not only helps keep Vicious on track, but ensures his productions are on point and that he is still in demand as a DJ several decades after those two DMC titles. Who beter than to support power house John Course than our own Audio Porn, Souli, Sarez, Senor Sanchez, Trim, Ezee G & Marc.
