Tuscan Tribute!
Presented by Primavera Selections
Many people have cut their teeth on Italian wine through the familiar guise of Chianti!
Tuscany is a tourist mecca, one that we all hope to be able to visit again one day - but in the interim, wine is the best way to travel and few regions speak of place better that Tuscany - viva Italia!
Some beautiful mineral inflected whites are made in Tuscany but mostly, its heart is red wine. Though a lot of Italian winemakers in the 80s moved towards creating wines for the international markets , the most beautiful wines are made traditionally and with respect to their history - we want to show you these wines.
Sangiovese as a grape is one of the most diverse and personality filled of all of the Italian wine grapes. In Tuscany, this grape sings. From the northern pocket, where soils are more alluvial, to south where clay dominates, Chianti Classico is a journey in itself. Then there is also Montalcino, and Montepulciano, where the grape behaves in an entirely different and regionally expressive way.
Join us on the 26th of August with 20 year plus Italian Wine Importer Primavera Selections at your favourite local wine bar to be taken on a journey through Tuscany and Sangiovese. Peter Johns will discuss the differences between each region and take us through producers Il Poggione, Villa Le Corti, Fontalpino, Scopetone and Il Macchione and their beautiful versions of wine from this important and successful region.
