Tickets to Varietease: www.australianburlesquefest.com Workshop 1: Get Down and Dirty Price: $50 Date/Time: 21 October (900am to 1030am) STUDIO 1 Instructor: Willow J Class Description: Drawing inspiration from our fierce women in history such Tempest Storm and Jennie Lee, this workshop will teach you the fundamentals of old school bump n grind! Get down and dirty, gritty and flirty with this fabulously fun and energetic class. Learn how to let yourself go and enjoy the erotic burlesque ride while your body gives in to ferocious moves and sensual grooves. Throughout the workshop we will cover techniques such as showgirl struts, shimmies, bump n grind, floor work, how to tease and transfix, and how to lure in your audience to melting point. A fun, sexy and energetic workshop that will open your base chakra to the pleasures of sensuality! Level of experience: Open to all levels What to bring/wear: Comfortable clothes that make you feel sexy and that don’t restrict your movement. Dance heels are optional – bare feet are fine! Workshop 2: Badass Boa Price: $50 Date/Time: 21 October (1030am to 1200pm) STUDIO 1 Instructor: The Diamond Dahlia Class Description: The boa is one of The Diamonds favourite striptease props due to its versatility and flair. In this class you will learn the boa basics culminating in a classic Burlesque routine. We will cover reveals, training the audience eye and all the moves to make a routine vibrant and electric. This class is suitable for all experience levels. Level of experience: Suitable for all levels. What to bring/wear: heels, water and most importantly, a boa Workshop 3: Fan-tasique Techniques Price: $50 Date/Time: 21 October (1210pm to 140pm) STUDIO 1 Instructor: Bunni Lambada Class Description: Fan-tasique technique! with Bunni Lambada. In this workshop students will learn about the art of fan dance with a particular emphasis on perfect posture, creating long balletic lines, and developing and perfecting fan technique. Level of experience: This workshop is suitable for all levels – no fan dance experience necessary. What to bring/wear: feather fans, water bottle, dance heels, and wear dance tights or shorts. Workshop 4: Stage Presence, Vocal Techniques & MCeeing Price: $50 Date/Time: 21 October (145pm to 315pm) STUDIO 2 Instructor: Ella Fontaine Class Description: Want to Kill It on stage? Give that extra 10%? Use your nervous energy to drive your performance? This is a workshop suitable for any performer wishing to develop : stage presence, vocal strength and techniques for connecting with audiences (through verbal interaction and/ or MCeeing) Vocal Techniques/ Warm-ups - exercises and tips ● Vocal warm ups ● Sound checking and microphones ● Songs / opening numbers - originals and covers (inc. tips for editing tracks) Stage Presence - exercises ● 3 Word focus ● Overcoming Performance anxiety - visualisation techniques ● "Stomping" the stage and "grounding" excercises ● Connecting and reading audiences Discussion, Q&A around the following MC topics (and more): ● Research and preparation ● Political correctness ● Writing act descriptions / bios - tips and tricks ● Professionalism and etiquette Experience Level: Suitable for all levels What to bring/wear: Bottle of water, notepad and pen, confident and comfortable outfit Workshop 5: Bigger More!!! Price: $50 Date/Time: 21 October (315pm to 445pm) STUDIO 2 Instructor: Lucy Lovegun Class Description: The higher the hair the closer to the Gods! Learn how to amp up the volume in your hair do and add some big ass style to your stage looks. Students will be given an introduction to the basics of vintage based hair styling from setting curls to brushing them out and pinning/shaping them in fun ways. Bonus prize: Showgirl cheats, hacks and products that help you fake it till you make it! Don’t wig out, we’ll also be chatting weaves! Level of experience: Open to all levels What to bring/wear: Bring paper and a pen to take notes. If you would like to play along with demonstrations come with your hair already curled if you can, but not essential. Please also bring your hair things – combs, brushes, bobby pins, hair spray etc. curling iron is also handy. All the hair things! Please arrive 10 minutes before class commences and quietly wait outside until the workshop prior is complete. Do not enter the studio if there is a workshop. All students are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to attend the class. ABF is not responsible for injury. Please let the instructor know if you have an injury or medical condition. Instructors retain copyright for all content taught in the workshops. Cannot be used for commercial or public use without the instructors consent. ABF is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Please make sure you take all items with you after the workshop. Please leave promptly when the workshop finishes as there are other workshops immediately after. No photos are allowed during the workshops unless the instructor has approved the shot. All students will be encouraged to join in the group shot at the end of the workshop. If an instructor is unable to attend the workshop then a suitable substitute teacher may fill in that workshop. If not the workshop fee, excluding credit card/booking fee will be refunded. All workshops will incur a booking fee (credit card, Paypal). No bank transfer available. |
